Ask questions of your elders. Tell stories to your young people.

I have learned that some of the most interesting family history stories reveal themselves when I follow my curiosity straight down a genealogical rabbit hole. Sometimes it is just a tickle that pulls me to dig deeper. I love piecing together records, memories, and quiet clues to tell a story from the past.

I am a genealogist/family historian and debut author, drawn to the stories tucked away in courthouse files, attic boxes, cherished and forgotten photographs, and the conversations that spark memories. My upcoming book, Malcolm and Ida (February 2026), grew from one such discovery. Two boxes in an attic sat waiting for just the right moment to reveal themselves to me.

Here on Substack, I share some research, discoveries, and reflections about my family’s history. Whether you’re a seasoned genealogist or someone who loves a good story, I hope you will find something that sparks your curiosity.

Subscribe to follow the development of Malcolm and Ida and to join me as I uncover the stories that connect us to the people who came before.
